Langtree's staff is excited to start the 2018-2019 school year! Our vision for this year is called "Growth Mindset." This mindset involves a belief that intelligence is malleable and can be developed - intelligence can be changed and grown in both children and adults. A growth mindset believes that one can learn just about anything! It might take some struggle and failure but they understand that with effort and perseverance, they can succeed! An educator with this mindset believes that with effort and hard work from the learner, all students can demonstrate significant growth and therefore all students deserve opportunities for challenge. You then have a recipe for optimum student learning!
I am so proud of the excellent staff we have at Langtree. The teachers are diligent in their efforts to differentiate instruction, create effective lesson plans, collect and analyze student data, work collaboratively, participate in professional development, and use technology to ensure our students are receiving a quality education.
Research proves that parental involvement is a crucial component of a child's education. At Langtree we encourage parents to become involved and work in partnership with our staff. Our PTA is a vital part of Langtree life and plans activities and programs which foster our vision. This year the PTA is continues to sponsor a morning Book Club - all students are encouraged to take part in "digging into reading!"
As the principal of Langtree I am confident that we are providing our students with an educational experience that will help them to become life long learners. We focus on the individual needs of each child and work hard to help them achieve their dreams. Let’s continue to work together in partnership - if you have any suggestions, concerns, or questions please do not hesitate to contact me. Don't forget to check our website daily for information on events and our Langtree Backpack.
