Ms. Schaffer

Welcome to my All About Teacher page! This year, I am excited to bring all of my previous experiences in special education to Steinert's Autism Program.  I have worked for thirteen years with students with autism in a special needs, self contained, public school district. I worked as a Teacher for Students with Disabilities, for children ages 5-18. I taught this population of students in academics, social/communication/language skills, behavioral skills, as well as Community-Based Instruction/Life Skills. In 2014, I completed 6 Post-Master’s courses from Rutgers University in Applied Behavior Analysis.  In 2007, I received my Masters in Special Education, from Kean University and in 2003, I received my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education/ Psychology from Rider University. I use differentiated instruction and modifications/accommodations to help each individual in my classes, progress and succeed. I am enthusiastic to take what I learned throughout my education and specialized training, and apply it on a daily basis, in order to meet the needs of all of my Steinert students.
