Grades 6 & 7 and Spanish I (8th grade)

Dear Students and Families,

My name is Sra. (Mrs.) Goodarz, and I am your Spanish teacher for either semester I or II, or in the case of 8th grade, for this year!  I have been teaching Spanish for over 20 years, love what I do, and am happy to be working with you this year.

***Please take note that 6th and 7th grade Spanish is a cycle course.  As such, we are directed to give very little homework.  However, inasmuch as students will be receiving a grade for this course, I must still give tests, quizzes and projects in order to assess progress in the course.  Therefore, in addition to keeping an organized binder dedicated to "Spanish" only, which is to be in class daily, I recommend that students bring their binder home with them for review and study purposes.   Additionally, I frequently distribute notes and vocabulary lists, and recommend that students make flashcards for practice and study purposes.  It is difficult to "cram" for a foreign language test/quiz, so practice, repetition and organization are key.

***8th grade Spanish is a full year, everyday, High School course, and therefore students are expected to complete homework  activities, when assigned, participate and use Spanish in class as much as possible.  This is a fun and engaging course, and students will be amazed at how well they will learn to communicate in the Target Language.

District Grading Protocol :  Summative - 50%  Formative - 40%  Individual Practice - 10%

***Attention Parents/Guardians - Please visit your child's Powerschool Portal to view all upcoming due dates for assessments, projects and homework.

Finally, if a student has questions, needs extra help or extra time,  they have been told that I am available during my lunch period 5 (6th grade) and period 6 (8th grade), in Room B4.  My 7th grade students can see me in Room B4 before or after school.  They simply need to tell me in advance so that I can make the arrangements.

Should you ever have any questions, please email me at my district email address:
