I have the pleasure of teaching 6th grade, 7th grade, and 8th grade COMPUTER CLASSES.   

Description of the Courses:

The goal of Computer Literacy I is to provide sixth grade students with the fundamental skills of using the computer. Students will be introduced to the principles of computer use, internet safety, digital citizenship, Google applications and ongoing keyboarding skills. This course will cover the basic skills using but not limited to Google applications. The course outcome will allow students to refine their typing skills by using word processing programs, such as Google Docs to create, modify, and enhance documents.

Computer Literacy II offers students detailed lessons and experience using but not limited to Google Docs , Sheets, and Slides. They will use some of the most common formatting techniques and learn various ways to access them.  Also, they will practice setting margins and tabs, inserting Clip Art, shapes, symbols, and designing tables, just to name a few. These lessons will be sure to greatly expand their knowledge and efficiency when working with Docs, Sheets, and Slides  Throughout the marking period, they will view demonstrations and practice specific functions through hands-on class activities and projects.

Computer Applications is a full year 8th grade elective course develops the fundamentals of Google Docs, Sheets. Slides and Classroom.  Students will also learn digital citizenship, online safety, and digital etiquette Students will build upon their prior knowledge gained during the 6th and 7th grade Computer Literacy courses where proper keyboarding techniques, language arts literacy skills, proofreading, and editing skills are emphasized.  Students will learn to properly format important documents such as MLA and APA reports, business letters, multimedia presentations and charts.  Throughout the school year, students will view demonstrations and practice specific functions through hands-on class activities and projects. These lessons will greatly expand students' computer knowledge and efficiency and can easily be applied in other courses throughout their everyday life. 

Grades are determined by the following categories and percentages (weights):    

Participation = 10%  

Activities & Quizzes = 40%

Technique Evaluations & Tests = 50%

Nightly homework is NOT ASSIGNED in  6th or 7th grade classes.
