Hi students, parents, and guardians.  

Here is the work for week 3 and 4 of remote learning.  Weeks 1 and 2 are still available by clicking the link below. All of my 7th grade and 8th grade social studies students recieved a folder from me with a paper copy of everything I am asking to be done for week 1 and 2.  Packets were created for weeks 3 and 4 for all of my students which were either picked up or mailed home.  They were also provided with a checklist that has directions for all of the work.  Please try to complete the work on the day it is assigned. We are all in this together.  Email me with any questions, I will be checking regularly throughout the day- jkent@hamilton.k12.nj.us

7TH GRADE ASSIGNMENTS WEEK 3 AND 4 REMOTE LEARNING

  • Day 11 March 30-  Geography of the Middle East” worksheet- Read the passage and answer the questions on the back about the Middle East.
  • Day 12 March 31- Southwest Asian Country Slides Project- Read the directions and pick the country you would like to start working with.  You can research them online or watch a Youtube clip to pick your favorite first.  Then start your research for slides 1 and 2 and complete the planning sheet for them.
  • Day 13 April 1- Project-  Continue your research.  Finish planning sheet for slide 3, 4, and 5.
  • Day 14 April 2- Project- Continue your research.  Finish planning sheet for slide 6. Start to work on your Google Slides final project.
  • Day 15 April 3- Project- Continue working on your final project on Google Slides.

SPRING BREAK

  • Day 16 April 13 - Project-  Finish your Google Slides presentation by the end of the day and turn in on Google Classroom.
  • Day 17 April 14-  “The Middle East” Worksheet- Complete the questions using the internet or google about the Middle East.
  • Day 18 April 15- Newsela- Read “The History of the Census” and answer the 4 quiz questions when you're done.
  • Day 19 April 16- Newsela- Read “Why everything is closing for coronavirus: It’s called "flattening the curve" and answer the 4 quiz questions when you're done.
  • Day 20 April 17- Current Events- Read 3 articles from a site on classroom (or one you choose).  Choose one article to write 3 complete sentence facts on.

8TH GRADE ASSIGNMENTS WEEK 3 AND 4 REMOTE LEARNING

  • Day 11 March 30- Newsela- Read “Primary Sources: Two views on the prospect of American independence” and answer the 8 questions.
  • Day 12 March 31- Project-  Use the Google Slide project worksheet.  Start by watching the 20 minute video (link provided) and pick a battle.  Start your research for slide 1 and 2 and work on your planning sheet.
  • Day 13 April 1- Project-  Continue your research.  Finish planning sheet for slide 3 and 4.
  • Day 14 April 2- Project- Continue your research.  Finish planning sheet for slide 5 and start to work on your Google Slides final project.
  • Day 15 April 3- Project- Continue working on your final project on Google Slides.

SPRING BREAK

  • Day 16 April 13 - Project-  Finish your Google Slides presentation by the end of the day and turn in on Google Classroom.
  • Day 17 April 14-  “Battles of the Revolution” Worksheet- Using the map provided, answer the questions about the battles of the war.
  • Day 18 April 15- “Declaration of Independence” Worksheet- Read the passage and answer the 6 multiple choice questions attached. There is a colonial word search worksheet as well to complete if you have time. 
  • Day 19 April 16- Newsela- Read “Why everything is closing for coronavirus: It’s called "flattening the curve" and answer the 4 quiz questions when you're done.
  • Day 20 April 17- Current Events- Read 3 articles from a site on classroom (or one you choose).  Choose one article to write 3 complete sentence facts on.

 

 

 

GRADING: 

Summative Assessments: 50% (tests, projects)

Formative Assessments: 40% (quizzes, mini labs)

Independent Practice: 10% (class work, homework)
