Remote Learning Plan Below:

All work will be located on Google Classroom DAILY.  You will not be able to work ahead.  Complete each activity daily to recieve credit for the day.  Above is the Google Classroom Code and my email address in case someone still needs it.

As a student, what are my responsibilities?

-log onto Google Classroom every single weekday (Monday-Friday) 

-assignments will be posted each morning at 9:15 am

-you will work NO LONGER than 40 minutes per class (no more than 4 hours a day)

-complete any assignments on Google Classroom (clear/specific directions will be posted along with worksheets created through Google Documents, NEWSELA assignments and Youtube videos)  You must hit the TURN IN button in order to submit your work.

-I will be available for questions/support through email and/or directly messaging me on Google Classroom

 As a parent, what are my responsibilities?

-MOTIVATE TOWARD SUCCESS: encourage and support your child to complete their responsibilities each and every weekday 

-DEVICE USAGE: allow your child to use an at home device for support for a portion of the day (laptop, desktop, tablet, etc.)

-STAY INVOLVED: talk with your child (ask how they are doing, if they need support, if they are on track or behind, etc.)

-CREATE A COMFORTABLE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT: provide necessary equipment, create a distraction free zone, etc. 

NOTE: Chapter3 vocabulary quiz will not be taken.  We are moving directly to our Ancient Egypt unit in preparation for a DBQ (Document Based Question) essay that will be written once we return to the in-school classroom.

Day 1: Monday 3/16

  • Ancient Egypt Map Activity: Label and color the following places.
  • Ancient Egypt Vocabulary: Write the definition or find the term
  • Begin studying the map and vocabulary for a Google form quiz on Monday, March 30th. If we are back at school, the quiz will be taken in school! 

Day 2: Tuesday 3/17

  • Newsela Article #1: Ancient Egypt Life Along the Nile
  • Newsela Article #2: How the Nile River led to Civilization in Egypt
  • Students will read the two articles and answer a series of reading comprehension questions.
  • Articles will be assigned on Newsela.

Day 3: Wednesday 3/18

  • Students will use the two articles from the previous day and complete a compare and contrast writing prompt.

Day 4: Thursday 3/19

  • Newsela Article #1: World Leaders: Hatshepsut
  • Newsela Article #2: Women Leaders: Queen Nefertiti
  • Newsela Article #3: Women Leaders: Cleopatra
  • Students will read the two articles and answer a series of reading comprehension questions.
  • Articles will be assigned on Newsela.

Day 5: Friday 3/20

  • Students will use the three articles from the previous day and complete a compare and contrast writing prompt.

Day 6: Monday 3/23

  • Students will watch a video on YouTube titled “King Tut PBS Special.” This length of the video is 26:40. (If you go to YouTube and type “King Tut PBS Special,” it should be the first video to pop up.)
  • Students will watch the video and complete a guided video response comprehension sheet.

Day 7: Tuesday 3/24

  • Students will be working on “In Memory of King Tut.” Students will be reading a fictional autobiography of the life and death of King Tutankhamen. 
  • After reading, students will answer reading comprehension questions.
  • Students will use the video from yesterday along with the Fictional Autobiography to write a paragraph. Students will pretend they are King Tut and decide if they are going to open the shrines of Osiris and abandon the legacy of Akhenaton or once again restore polytheism and open the shrines.

Day 8: Wednesday 3/25

  • Students will be watching an audio video book reading while completing a guided outline activity on the mummification process throughout the history of Egypt. “Mummy Packet” (Complete pages 1-14)

Day 9: Thursday 3/26

  • Students will be watching an audio video book reading while completing a guided outline activity on the mummification process throughout the history of Egypt. (Complete pages 15-27)

Day 10: Friday 3/27

  • Students will be watching a video titled “Ancient Egypt for Kids.”
  • Students will be watching the video and completing a guided video response comprehension sheet.
 
 Day 11: Monday 3/30
  • DBQ (Document Based Question) Background Information Reading Comprehension
  • Read the document and answer the questions in complete sentences
  • Type all answers in the COLOR RED 

Day 12: Tuesday 3/31

  • DBQ (Document Based Question) Doc. A Maps
  • Analyze the maps and answer the questions in complete sentences
  • Type all answers in the COLOR RED 

Day 13: Wednesday 4/1

  • DBQ (Document Based Question) Doc. B Chart
  • Analyze the chart and answer the questions in complete sentences
  • Type all answers in the COLOR RED 

Day 14: Thursday 4/2

  • DBQ (Document Based Question) Doc. C painting
  • Analyze the painting and answer the questions in complete sentences

Day 15: Friday 4/3

  • Read the hymn/song and answer the questions in complete sentences

Day 16/17: Monday 4/13 & Tuesday 4/14

  • Students will be be completing an Online Scavenger Hunt for Ancient Egypt.  Students will be using the British Museum Website.  
  • This will be the first formative for the fourth marking period.

Day 18: Wednesday 4/15

  • Students will be comparing and contrasting an Ancient Egyptian Farming & Wealthy Family by completing a chart. 
  • Students will work on their Timeline Project with the remainder of time designated for Social Studies.

Day 19: Thursday 4/16

  • Students will be be completing the "Wrapping It Up" Activity.  Students will place the Egyptian statement in the appropraite Egyptian Kingdom.
  • Students will work on their Timeline Project with the remainder of time designated for Social Studies.

Day 20: Friday 4/17

  • Students will be complete a Google Form for Remote Learning.  Students will use this day as a Catch-Up Day.
  • Students will work on their Timeline Project with the remainder of time designated for Social Studies.

Day 21: Monday 4/20

  • Student Mini DBQ:  Students will be working on the outline and essay for the next nine days of Remote Learning. 
  • Introduction Hook:  Students will be writing their hook for their intro paragraph.

Day 22: Tuesday 4/21

  • Student Mini DBQ:  Students will be working on the outline and essay for the next nine days of Remote Learning. 
  • Introduction:  Students will be completing the brainstorming session for their introductory paragraph by completing a guided outline (Hook, Background Info, Thesis statement)

Day 23: Wednesday 4/22

  • Student Mini DBQ:  Students will be working on the outline and essay for the next nine days of Remote Learning. 
  • Students will be completing a Citations &Evidence chart.  Students will need to summarize each Document and differentiate the type of source it is.

Day 24: Thursday 4/23

  • Student Mini DBQ:  Students will be working on the outline and essay for the next nine days of Remote Learning. 
  • Students will choose their topic for their essay Agriculture or religion).  Once their topic is chosen, they will provide four pieces of evidence from the documents to defend their topic.

Day 25: Friday 4/24

  • Student Mini DBQ:  Students will be working on the outline and essay for the next nine days of Remote Learning. 
  • Students will complete the body paragraph outline.  The outline consists of an intro, citing evidence, explaining evidence, and having a closing sentence.

Day 26: Monday 4/27

  • Student Mini DBQ:  Students will be working on the outline and essay for the next nine days of Remote Learning. 
  • Students will complete the conclusion outline.  The outline consists of restating their thesis, final thoughts, and a conclusion sentence.

Day 27: Tuesday 4/28

  • Student Mini DBQ:  Students will be working on the outline and essay for the next nine days of Remote Learning. 
  • Introductory Paragraph.  Students will be writing the intro paragraph (Background Info, Evidence, Thesis Statement)

Day 28: Wednesday 4/29

  • Student Mini DBQ:  Students will be working on the outline and essay for the next nine days of Remote Learning. 
  • Body Paragraph:  Students will pick their topic they would like to write about.  (Religion or Agriculture)

Day 29: Thursday 4/30

  • Student Mini DBQ:  Students will be working on the outline and essay for the next nine days of Remote Learning. 
  • Conclusion:  Students will complete their essay by summarizing their thesis. Edit/Submit:  Students will take this day to re-read their essay, make corrections suggested by the teacher, and submit.

Day 30: Friday 5/1

  • Student Mini DBQ:  Students will be working on the outline and essay for the next nine days of Remote Learning. 
  • “Third World Farmer.”  Catch-Up Day

  • Watch recording of your class period's Google Meet session in the stream on Google Classroom 
  • Complete Chapter 8 Vocabulary powerpoint. 
  • Look over Ancient Greece Map

Day 32: Tuesday 5/5

  • Watch recording of your class period's Google Meet session in the stream on Google Classroom
  • Complete Chapter 9 Vocabulary powerpoint. 
  • Look over Ancient Greece Map

Day 33: Wednesday 5/6

  • Watch recording of your class period's Google Meet session in the stream on Google Classroom
  • Watch Geography and Early Greece- Mr. Corwin video to answer the Google Doc questions.

Day 34: Thursday 5/7

  • Watch recording of your class period's Google Meet session in the stream on Google Classroom
  • Watch Democracy in Athens- Mr. Corwin video to answer the Google Doc questions.
  • Weekly Google Form Quiz based on this weeks lessons will be posted today at 1:00 PM. It will be due tomorrow and you may use your weekly assignments to complete the Quiz.

Day 35: Friday 5/8

  • Catch-up on any assignments that you may not have completed for this week
  • Be sure to complete and submit your weekly Google Form quiz.
