Remote Learning Plan Below:

All work will be located on Google Classroom DAILY.  You will not be able to work ahead.  Complete each activity daily to recieve credit for the day.  Above is the Google Classroom Code and my email address in case someone still needs it.

As a student, what are my responsibilities?

-log onto Google Classroom every single weekday (Monday-Friday) 

-assignments will be posted each morning at 9:15 am

-you will work NO LONGER than 40 minutes per class (no more than 4 hours a day)

-complete any assignments on Google Classroom (clear/specific directions will be posted along with worksheets created through Google Documents, NEWSELA assignments and Youtube videos)  You must hit the TURN IN button in order to submit your work.

-I will be available for questions/support through email and/or directly messaging me on Google Classroom

 As a parent, what are my responsibilities?

-MOTIVATE TOWARD SUCCESS: encourage and support your child to complete their responsibilities each and every weekday 

-DEVICE USAGE: allow your child to use an at home device for support for a portion of the day (laptop, desktop, tablet, etc.)

-STAY INVOLVED: talk with your child (ask how they are doing, if they need support, if they are on track or behind, etc.)

-CREATE A COMFORTABLE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT: provide necessary equipment, create a distraction free zone, etc. 

NOTE: Chapter3 vocabulary quiz will not be taken.  We are moving directly to our Ancient Egypt unit in preparation for a DBQ (Document Based Question) essay that will be written once we return to the in-school classroom.

  • DBQ (Document Based Question) Background Information Reading Comprehension
  • Read the document and answer the questions in complete sentences
  • Type all answers in the COLOR RED 

Day 12: Tuesday 3/31

  • DBQ (Document Based Question) Doc. A Maps
  • Analyze the maps and answer the questions in complete sentences
  • Type all answers in the COLOR RED 

Day 13: Wednesday 4/1

  • Analyze the chart and answer the questions in complete sentences
  • Type all answers in the COLOR RED 

Day 14: Thursday 4/2

Day 1: Monday 3/16

  • Ancient Egypt Map Activity: Label and color the following places.
  • Ancient Egypt Vocabulary: Write the definition or find the term
  • Begin studying the map and vocabulary for a Google form quiz on Monday, March 30th. If we are back at school, the quiz will be taken in school! 

Day 2: Tuesday 3/17

  • Newsela Article #1: Ancient Egypt Life Along the Nile
  • Newsela Article #2: How the Nile River led to Civilization in Egypt
  • Students will read the two articles and answer a series of reading comprehension questions.
  • Articles will be assigned on Newsela.

Day 3: Wednesday 3/18

  • Students will use the two articles from the previous day and complete a compare and contrast writing prompt.

Day 4: Thursday 3/19

  • Newsela Article #1: World Leaders: Hatshepsut
  • Newsela Article #2: Women Leaders: Queen Nefertiti
  • Newsela Article #3: Women Leaders: Cleopatra
  • Students will read the two articles and answer a series of reading comprehension questions.
  • Articles will be assigned on Newsela.

Day 5: Friday 3/20

  • Students will use the three articles from the previous day and complete a compare and contrast writing prompt.

Day 6: Monday 3/23

  • Students will watch a video on YouTube titled “King Tut PBS Special.” This length of the video is 26:40. (If you go to YouTube and type “King Tut PBS Special,” it should be the first video to pop up.)
  • Students will watch the video and complete a guided video response comprehension sheet.

Day 7: Tuesday 3/24

  • Students will be working on “In Memory of King Tut.” Students will be reading a fictional autobiography of the life and death of King Tutankhamen. 
  • After reading, students will answer reading comprehension questions.
  • Students will use the video from yesterday along with the Fictional Autobiography to write a paragraph. Students will pretend they are King Tut and decide if they are going to open the shrines of Osiris and abandon the legacy of Akhenaton or once again restore polytheism and open the shrines.

Day 8: Wednesday 3/25

  • Students will be watching an audio video book reading while completing a guided outline activity on the mummification process throughout the history of Egypt. “Mummy Packet” (Complete pages 1-14)

Day 9: Thursday 3/26

  • Students will be watching an audio video book reading while completing a guided outline activity on the mummification process throughout the history of Egypt. (Complete pages 15-27)

Day 10: Friday 3/27

  • Students will be watching a video titled “Ancient Egypt for Kids.”
  • Students will be watching the video and completing a guided video response comprehension sheet.
