Mrs. Yost

I have been teaching Music in Hamilton Township since 2001.

Here is some interesting facts about me that you might not know...

I am VERY excited to be back at Reynolds for my 6th year, creating beautiful music with the students.  Before coming to Reynolds I taught in several of the district's Elementary schools.

I grew up in Morrisville, PA and graduated from Trenton State College with a Bachelor's Degree in Music and a concentration in Vocal Education in 1996.

I studied voice with Suzanne Hickman and Robert Guarino (TSC) for 4 years.
Then, I was fortunate enough to study with
Emile Renan, of NYC Opera from 1996 - 2001 and
Guy Waid (NYC) from 2001 - 2005.
I have also studied Vocal Therapy with Dr. Kay Monkhouse in Princeton, NJ
(Thanks Dr. K for saving my voice!!!)

I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Holy Family University in 2007 with a Master's Degree in Education.

I have sung and played guitar since I was in the 4th grade. As a teenager, I co-founded a folk group for my local parish. In high school I went "out on tour" with my high school chorale to Quebec, Canada, and then again to Buffalo, Montreal and points North, in College.  I have sung with Savoy Opera Company in Philadelphia, been a soloist in Community Choirs in Falls Township, PA and have sung with the Delaware Valley Regional Orchestra.  Currently, I lead a Contemporary Christian Group, Companions on The Journey, in which I play guitar, keyboards and sing lead and back-up vocals.  And, though fame and fortune have eluded me, I still perform every so often. I enjoy listening to, performing in, and attending all kinds of musical theater and operatic performances.

Before coming to Hamilton,
I taught vocal music in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia (K-12), and was the head teacher at a pre-school in Langhorne, PA.  I taught music at St. Anthony's and Holy Angels schools in Trenton (K-8) and sang at a restaurant in the Philadelphia Area.  All at various times, of course!

I was the Minister of Music at the First Presbyterian Church of Titusville, NJ from 1996 to November of 2012, where I conducted the Handbell Choir, Coordinated the Children's music program, and lead the Sr. Choir, where I met my husband (he is a bass/baritone).  I also had the opportunity to work with the choirs in that community for combined services and concerts.

When I am not teaching music or working on the school musical,
I enjoy lots of things!  I LOVE to read all kinds of books, but most especially, music books, historical fiction and historic novels.  My husband and I enjoy spending time with family and friends, and travelling.  Most of all we LOVE to see our sons, Sam and Henry, growing up!  They are 7 and 3, respectively, and are inspiration, joy and the lights of our lives!

I hope each one of my students will find some aspect of music that they enjoy.
I firmly believe that music should not only be studied in school,
but experienced throughout one's life.
Music can take you to the ends of the earth, or to a quiet inner-peace.
