• Concert Band Info

    The Concert Bands at Grice form the core of our program.  

    We offer three separate programs that students can participate in:

    DAY 1 Band - This band consists of 6th and 7th grade students that usually entering their 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of music instruction.

    DAY 2 Band - 6th and 7th grade students in this band usually have 1 or less year experience on their instrument (or they change instrument type).

    ***The Day 1 and Day 2 bands meet every other day in like-experience groups for the entire school year.***

    8th Grade Elective Band - This band meets everyday as a full group and has high performance expectations.

    All Grice concert bands participate in "Music Showcase Festivals" following our spring concert.  The groups will receive a rating based on their performance as well as earning section and soloist awards.  The students are welcome to celebrate their year of hard work by attending our Dorney Park Trip in June 2019!

Jazz Ensemble Info

  • The Grice Jazz Ensemble is an advanced-level musical group that meets every other week on Tuesdays/Thursdays from 3 PM to 4:30 PM. This group rehearses and performs jazz, rock, and popular music. The Jazz Ensemble performs at school concerts and jazz festivals throughout the central New Jersey region.

Wind Ensemble Info

  • The Grice Wind Ensemble is the newest musical ensemble at Grice Middle School. This group is open to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade band students who are at least in their third of year of playing. Rehearsals take place every other week on Tuesdays/Thursdays from 3-4:30 PM in A-106. The Wind Ensemble will be performing at the Spring Concert on Thursday, May 9th and will be performing for an adjudicator on Friday, May 10th. 

     

    The Grice Wind Ensemble is currently rehearsing the following selections:

    -American Sketches- Pierre LaPlante 

    -Close Encounters at Loch Ness- John Prescott

  • IMPROVISATION CLUB INFO

    ***NEW for the 2018-2019 School Year***

    Mr. Bonomo and Mr. Wilmot will be starting a music improvisational club.  Music improvisation is used in jazz soloing and we help build both individual playing and ensemble skills.  We plan on having this club meet once per month throughout the school year.  Please look for more details on this new club when we get back in September!
