Each year, Post #31, American Legion and their Auxiliary sponsor a group of our junior students to NEW JERSEY BOYS STATE. BOYS STATE will be conducted the week of JUNE 16 TO JUNE 21, 2019.

This program will be conducted on the Rider College Campus. Participants reside on campus for the entire week and are part of "government-in-action” program where 850 top high school juniors from across the state come together to learn about government and citizenship.

This program is run as a college level seminar. The delegates learn about state, county and local government and the political party system. Besides campaigning and running their respective cities and counties, the delegates participate in seminars where they learn about possible careers and education choices, take part in a full sports program, set up a newspaper and band, and listen to a wide array of distinguished, nationally known speakers.

Candidates should be intelligent, well rounded, interested in government and the political process, and posses a willingness to get involved. Selection to this elite college level program is an honor and a privilege. There is no cost for the student to attend if selected as a delegate after interview by Post #31. Interested Boys, who interview well, but not selected as a delegate may be selected as an alternate OR can attend and participate for the week at Rider University for a fee of $250.00.

Candidates must be able to participate in a selection interview at the American Legion Post 31 at South Olden Avenue in Trenton on Thursday evening, April 11th at 7:00pm. All decisions on Boys State delegates are made by the American Legion Post #31. Selection is based on the students’ Activities Resume, Transcripts and Interview.

If you are interested, please sign up in the guidance office by MONDAY, MARCH 26TH.
