We made through a historical timeperiod unlike anything we've ever experienced.  Congratulations to all my students.  You did an amazing job learning remotely.  Enjoy your summer break - you earned it!

A survey has been developed to get your feedback on your experience during remote learning. Please take a few moments to complete this survey. It will be open from June 17th until June 30th.

Mrs. Ponzio

I am a Kindergarten and First Grade Special Ed Teacher here at University Heights Elementary School.  I have always wanted to be a teacher and love what I do.   Prior to joining University Heights last year, I worked in the Lindenwold School District.  While there, I taught 1st grade ESL and 3rd grade ELL.  I really got to practice my spanish (and learned some new terms as well).

I became a teacher via the long road as I worked for over 20 years in the corporate world.  I also supported my husband as he built his own company from the ground up.  Somewhere in the middle of all this, I had an opportunity to stay home with my children.  After a few months home, I needed to do more than story time at the library, cook dinner and do laundry.  This led me to my local school district where I worked as a Teacher's Aide in the middle school.  Eventually I moved to the Kindergarten self-contained Autistic classroom and stayed there 4 more years. While overwhelming and challenging for me at first, I grew to love the job and seeing the progress in my students.    After another brief stint in corporate (to help pay Penn State tuition) I went back to work as a Para-professional at Northern Burlington Regional High School assisting students with multiple physical, cognitive and behavioral disabilities.  With tuition bills behind us, my husband encouraged me to finish my degree and become the teacher I always wanted to be.  I graduated from Rutgers University in 2016 and began my teaching career.

I understand the demands of working parents and am here to assist in anyway I can.  While I believe in motivating my students to be and do their very best, I also understand that they need to be kids and enjoy this time.  Everyday, there are learning opportunities all around us.

Feel free to email me if you have any questions. During on-line learning I will be available from 10:00 - 2:00 daily.  In the meantime, stay healthy.
